Politics and business make lousy bedfellows as do politics and sports as well as politics and family matters. But in a cowboy town like Malaysia where everything is mixed like “Rojak“, it doesn’t really matter. The family of Razak has done it, again, after the senior Prime Minister Najib Razak shocked the world with the discovery of RM2.6 billion in his personal bank account last year.
Last year also saw how Mohd Nazifuddin, Najib’s son with his first wife Zainah Tengku Eskandar, was allegedly involved in UFUN Ponzi Scheme. Najib’s stepson Riza Aziz, son of wife Rosmah Mansor and her first husband, is currently under F.B.I. and U.S. Department of Justice investigation over his source of income in the production of “Wolf of Wall Street” and various luxury apartments’ purchase.
If that was not bad enough, Najib’s in-law – notorious Maira Nazarbayev – ordered a dozen of Hermes handbags worth US$401,912.50 (£264,564; RM1.72 million) from the Financial District business Samilor in 2014 and 2015, but never paid. When asked to pay, Maira said – “You know who my son is? He is son-in-law of the prime minister of Malaysia! I will hurt you and your family if you sue me!”
Last Saturday, Mohd Norashman, the youngest son of Najib and Rosmah, successfully added another trophy of achievement to the Razak family. Happened at Zouk Singapore, the prime minister’s son literally flexed his muscles by bulldozing guest DJ Fadi into early retirement for the day because the junior Razak wanted to show off his performance instead.
Apparently, Norashman’s impromptu request to play a set had resulted in the premature end of DJ Fadi’s (Fila, real name Fadi Wassef Naguib) performance, hence created a battalion of angry Zouk’s patrons. Together with Aly (Aly Amr Fathalah), the Egyptian duo has been voted among the top-100 DJs since 2008.
Clearly upset and insulted, a video posted on the social media revealing DJ Fadi’s frustration has since gone viral. As expected, Rosmah has defended his son’s antic by sending her personal assistant Rizal Mansor to Facebook – rubbishing the hijacks at the disco. Although Zouk Singapore has denied it gave way to the prime minister’s son, Fadi’s reaction tells a different story.
In the video, Fadi said – “It seems that Zouk here wants someone else to play. Not only because of that, because apparently he’s the son of a prime minister. Thank you so much, enjoys my last track. I’ll see you somewhere in the future. Not in Zouk anymore, because I won’t play in Zouk any f***ing more. They’ve insulted me, but I love you guys.”
Obviously, the iconic Singapore club Zouk which was sold to Genting Hong Kong late last year, had chosen to play ball by giving special preference to the youngest son of PM Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor. Not surprisingly, fans have unleashed their displeasure at Zouk Singapore’s Facebook page with some even calling for a boycott.
Zouk may not want to get politically involved in the fiasco. Heck, the prime minister’s son may not even be the issue as far as the Singapore club is concerned. The moment Aly & Fila was denied from completing their performance, never mind the argument of extension, so that the Najib’s son could be slotted in, it has turned into a political issue.
Like senior Najib, junior Norashman Razak was born with a silver spoon – what Norashman wants Norashman gets. Still, question remains as to the appropriateness of the junior having fun at the club, where alcohol is being served. Najib has been screaming about the need for non-Muslims to respect Islam. Heck, he has even pledged to defend true Islam with Saudi “brothers”.
Therefore, to see his favourite son showing off his special “talent” in a club serving “haram (forbidden)” alcohol in the eye of Islam was quite “entertaining” (*grin*), not to mention screams “hypocrisy”. But it would be cruel to confine Norashman into reading Al-Quran when he was spotted with Jho Low’s band of party-goers who consume alcohol as if they were mineral water.
And like daddy, Norashman was quite a successful playboy too. Another reason why the junior is Najib and Rosmah’s favourite was due to his brilliance. After spending merely 3-week in Beijing learning Mandarin, Norashman was trumpeted to be an expert, helping daddy Najib wooing Malaysian Chinese voters. Still, Najib did worse than former PM Abdullah Badawi.

if the son is haram, so is the father. a Muslim father of a haram child is definitely haram too. either he never taught his son well as the malays say “kurang ajar” / “macam ketam ajar anak berjalan lurus” (Just like a crab, teaching its young how to walk straight) or he is following his father’s footstep (like father like son) as in monkey see monkey do.
