The job requirements say you must be able to work 4 hours, in addition to zero experience. Heck, you don’t even have to own transport because a driver is provided. Above all, you’ll be paid a mind-boggling S$20,000 (US$14,000; £11,300; RM62,000) for a 4-hour work. That’s easily one of the best jobs, if not the best, in the world.
But you must love beer, not ordinary beer, but Carlsberg. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is be a Carlsberg Ambassador. You must enjoy ice-cold Carlsberg during work. And you must entertain your friends with probably the best beer in the world. As usual, should you be arrested for drunk-driving, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your existence.
Nope, this message will not self-destruct in five seconds. That’s because you’ve to read and agree to the terms and conditions before you submit your application for the mouth-watering job. You must also check your calendar to ensure you’ll be available on 8th and 9th Dec, 2016 (6pm onwards) as well as 15th Dec, 2016 (noon onwards) to participate in activities relating to this job.
Bringing back its “Probably The Best Job In The World” campaign for the second year running, the Danish brewer has doubled last year’s salary for the suitable candidate in Singapore. Applications for the campaign in Singapore close on December 4 and shortlisted candidates have to attend an interview on December 15.
However, through the application website, participants will have to explain why they think that they are the best job applicant for the said job in up to 140 characters. Applicants also have to name a song title that describes their feeling the best when they drink Carlsberg. Of course, applicants must be over the legal drinking age of 18.
In less than 140 characters, applicants must also creatively answer “When I have a Carlsberg in hand, I become …” Jimmy Toh, general manager of Carlsberg Singapore, said – “Whatever Carlsberg does, we strive to do better. While the exhilarating job of a beer taster remains the same this year, the successful applicant will earn S$20,000, which is double the salary offered last year.
Last year, social media manager Daniel Osgodby was the winner of the Carlsberg’s “Probably The Best Job in the World” campaign. He and the other four finalists had to perform tasks such as picking out a Carlsberg beer in a blind taste test and role-play as salesmen trying to sell the brand. Daniel finally won the S$10,000 after completing pints of Carlsberg beer for 4 hours.
